Dr. Zuo-Feng Zhang is a Senior Professor of Epidemiology and Medicine and Associate Dean for Research of the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. He is also Co-Director of the UCLA Alper Center for Environment Genomics, and Director of Cancer Molecular Epidemiology Training Program. Dr. Zhang had been a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology (ACE) since 1999 and he serves as Member of the Board of Directors of the American College of Epidemiology from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Zhang served as a regular member of NIH Epidemiology of Cancer Study Section (EPIC) and the NCI-J study section, and as an ad hoc member in numerous NIH peer review study sections. He was Scientific Consultant in several site visit teams in reviewing NCI Environmental Epidemiology Branch, Nutritional Epidemiology Branch, and NIEHS Epidemiology Branch. He was a World Health Organization (WHO) Consultant for National Non-communicable Disease Prevention and Controls in China, Distinguished Advisor and Board Member, Postmarketing Chinese Medicine, World Federation of Chinese Medical Society, senor scientific consultant of Jiangsu Provincial CDC and Zhejiang Provincial CDC in China, Guest Professor of Schools of Public Health of Fudan University, Peking University, Nanjing Medical University, Peking Union Medical College, and Nantong University.

Dr. Zhangs research interests focus on cancer epidemiology including cancer prevention and control and molecular genetic epidemiology of cancers as well as HIV related malignancies. His research team is working on environmental exposures such as tobacco smoking, air pollution, dietary factors and genetic factors such as mutations, methylations, and polymorphisms of tumor suppresser genes, genome-wide association (GWA) studies of cancer, and molecular epidemiology and precision medicine.  He has been the Chair of PhD committee for 30 PhD graduates and a member of PhD committee for over 30 PhD graduates since he started at UCLA in 1997. He has trained over 30 post-doctoral fellows. In addition, Dr. Zhang trained over 20 Professionals in Chinese Traditional Medicine. Dr. Zhang is the author of over 367 peer-reviewed articles published in national and international scientific journals and 22 book chapters.
